MASARY Studios seeks an individual passionate for marketing and the arts to apply for a temporary Marketing & Communications Internship role in Summer 2025.
This role is designed to support the studio’s communications department with weekly and monthly work as it relates to both external online marketing campaigns and internal departmental development. This professional experience is infused with how MASARY markets and communicates their artworks, events, and storytelling as a media arts collective.
This position will be a temporary, part-time 10 hours / week position with the title of Communications Intern. The hired intern will work 1 on 1 with studio Principal and Communications Director Sam Okerstrom-Lang and other studio members as applicable.
Social Media Campaigns: Scheduling and crafting high quality and meaningful posts representing current and past studio artworks & events through social media, press releases, and eventbrite. Outcomes include meeting average post engagement, supporting studio press release development and growing studio community through online following and event attendance.
Back End Digital Marketing: Building out SEO for studio web search optimization as it relates to website meta descriptions, alt-text for imagery / video, and marketing analysis to support the studio's outward communications reach. Outcomes include the studio and artworks appearing more regularly based on generic and specific online searches in the media arts industry within the region and country.
Department Administration: Archiving photo / video documentation of artworks, capturing photo / video b roll for artwork events and studio process, uploading projects to public artwork websites such as CODAworx.
The ideal candidate has facility in some or most of the skills outlined below. All tasks and responsibilities will be designed and supported by studio leadership. As a small but rapidly growing studio, we are looking for both the right skills and expertise as described below, as well as the right person to complement our studio’s culture.
Experience in Adobe Suite as it relates to graphic design and video editing (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere)
Understanding various media file and compression formats for efficient high quality exports from creative software
Copywriting experience as it relates to press releases, social media posts, and blogs.
Storytelling experience as it relates to understanding a core project / idea and implementing that into content material and campaigns
Experience with digital marketing tools / techniques such as SEO, Mailchimp, Linkedin, Instagram / Facebook, YouTube and others.
Able to use a DSLR or point and shoot camera for photo and video.
Duration: 10hrs/week for 10-12 weeks, beginning in May or June. Schedule is to be determined together during the hiring process.
Compensation: Compensation may be provided as a monthly stipend or school credit (if applicable), to be discussed during the interview process.
Schedule & Workspace: MASARY will provide a workspace and access to the studio. The candidate should provide their own laptop computer. Flexible hybrid schedule developed with the studio team.
